From Friday 10 July until Sunday, September 20, 2009, the long history of the Palace will be told through correspondence letters, photographs, old and contemporary paintings, drawings, sketches, cartoons, presenting the life in a place long thought of as a fort, but which is now possible to visit every corner and know its mysteries through the various testimonies of the time.  The already rich historical material present in the Academy of France was increased by loans outstanding as the works of Van Wittel of Henner, Hebert and Caillebotte, Alinari photographs through which it will be possible to realize the architectural evolution of the Villa Medici in centuries. Of course, the gardens will be part of the exhibition Villa Aperta, made even more inviting and full of charm after renovation and repositioning of the statues and the opening of a new workshop which will host numerous casts made by artists in residence over the centuries.  Admission: full price: 12 euros - reduced: 8 euros  Â

Villa Medici opens to public places has always been closed to visitors by offering, with the exhibition Villa Aperta, the unique opportunity to discover the paintings from the XVIth Jacopo Zucchi in the room on the first floor and private apartments of the Director restored by Balthus during the time of his mandate.
